Abstract

The RIT Spring Weekend collection consists mostly of planning documents related to the event and its various activities. For instance, the collection includes correspondence, meeting minutes, notebooks and notes, schedules, vendor floor plans, and parade routes and details. Additionally, the collection contains brochures, programs, fliers, and newsletters that were distributed during the event. There is also a folder of clippings recounting some of the weekend's activities. Materials related to the Rochester Institute of Technology's (RIT) Spring Weekend, an annual event for members of the RIT community. The collection contains planning documents such as meeting minutes, correspondence, and notes, as well as event programs, fliers, newsletters, and other promotional materials.

It is unclear when the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) first admitted minority students. However, it appears as though the first African American students entered the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (renamed RIT in 1944) during the early 1900s. For instance, in 1906 Fredericka Sprague, the granddaughter of Frederick Douglass, took classes at the Institute.
